Address by the Principal on the responsible use of digital devices and social media
Aims & Objectives: To make the students aware of the responsible use of digital devices and the consequences of misusing social media.
Summary: On 23rd April, the Principal of the school, Ms. Meenakshi conducted an assembly to make students aware of the responsible use of devices and of the consequences of misusing devices and social media. She made students aware of the cyber-crimes and its negative effects on people’s self-esteem and self-worth. She reminded students of the digital device policy of the school and also informed students of the UAE laws related to the use of social media. The Principal emphasized strictly to all students and teachers that the mobile phones will not be used anymore during lessons and within the premises of the school. Any device to be used during school hours should be connected to the school WIFI and should be without 3G/4G data. The Principal solicited students to stay focused on their academics and make right choices in life. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

Anti Bullying
Aims & Objectives:
To promote and encourage anti-bullying activities as part of anti-bullying week initiated by the KHDA through the Dubai Police.
Summary:
As a pledge to stand up against bullying, a weeklong anti-bullying campaign was announced by the KHDA as a part of which Dubai Police initiated an assembly for the Year 10 students of Winchester School. The assembly was an initiative to promote and encourage anti-bullying activities inside and outside the premises of the school. The aim of this campaign is to ensure all children are happy not only at home but also at school and in their lives ahead. This assembly helped our students internalize the value of respect for each other and to stand up to stop bullying of all forms of bullying including cyberbullying. The assembly concluded with an interactive session wherein the Police official encouraged students to ask for any queries and the officials very patiently answered all questions.

Celebration Assembly
Aims & Objectives: - To celebrate the achievement of students for Term 2.
Summary:
On 8th April 2018, the students of year 10 with their respective FT’s gathered together at the auditorium to celebrate the successes of students who excelled in various areas of school life. The assembly began with a welcome speech and the distribution of Principal’s letter of commendation by Ms. Seema. Students were presented with certificates for various categories like 100% attendance, good conduct in school as well as for following school uniform policy on a regular basis, and participation in Bab-Al-Taleem. They were extremely pleased to receive these certificates from their Form Tutors and Head of Year. Finally, The Gold Leaf certificate for term 2 was awarded to Arundhati Surendaran amidst much applaud. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

They were told about the activity sheet uploaded on my learning, Personal statement and essay requirements.

BAB AL TALEEM

On 19th April, during break time, students of Year 10 organised Bab Al Taleem as a fundraising effort. Stalls were set up with the food items presented beautifully. Ingredients for each food items were clearly displayed at each stall. There were a variety of homemade goodies. Each food item had a set price. The items were sold out with too much demand from the students. To add to the entertainment, in addition to the food items, there was also a game arranged by Souryana at one of the stalls. All proceeds from the sale was donated for charity.
- To raise funds for charity through BAB AL TALEEM.
- To help students to work collaboratively for a good cause.

Bullying – How does impede students' learning?
Aims & Objectives: To promote the message of anti-bullying among-st the students.
Summary: On 29th April, students of year 10 collaboratively conducted an assembly in the auditorium to create awareness on anti-bullying. Arundhati began the assembly by explaining the importance of respecting each other and impact of bullying. Thereafter, a role play by Vinayak, Koushal, Amer, Adonia and Tavish displayed how well-being of every student is of paramount importance. Nada and Yomna shed some light on the legality and morality of anti-bullying through a PowerPoint presentation. Following this, Sami discussed the slides which highlighted cyber safety. Finally, Ms. Elizabeth shared her feedback by highlighting the potential impact of bullying and also encouraged students for standing up against bullying. Ms. Chriselda then rendered feedback on the technicalities of assembly. Ms. Anna shared her feedback as well with the students. Students patiently listened to the feedback. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
