New Students - Induction Day Date: 1st September 2019
During the Induction day we have organized a number of events to welcome and support the new students coming to The Winchester School. We started with a number of ice-breaker activities that allowed us to settle the students comfortably in the new atmosphere, after which we moved on to introducing the teachers and heads. The introduction was supported by collaborative activities for the students to brainstorm and participate in. Once the introduction was done we moved on to explaining the policies and expectations at The Winchester School and ending the day with a number of interactive worksheets and activities.
Year 10 Assembly on Bullying Date: 15th September 2019
The session on bullying was started with an interactive activity in which Ananya, of 10D, asked the audience questions and was closely followed by Karim and Abdul Manay highlighting the effects of bullying. Ms Rashmi, the student counsellor, prepared another engaging activity involving the students. The students were able to understand the effects of bullying and realised the harm it causes. The session was very informative. The students were able to exhibit the effects of all types of bullying and were able to put forward solutions to prevent bullying
GRIP Program with NUS and NTU Singapore Date: 22nd September 2019
The session was conducted by Puneet Rathi, Founder, Chief Enabling Officer (CEO) & Happiness Coach. The event was focused on informing students about the grip design thinking competition and its significance in the students’ future applications to university. It was extremely informative and made use of digital technology to explain the concepts clearly. Students will be given projects based on real global challenges wherein they have to do research and submit their work. The project evaluation and assessment will be done by NUS and NTU, Singapore. The session was concluded by Nandika Sarker of 10B a student representative who is the participant of the programme. Constructive feedback was provided by the students, demonstrating their keen interest in the subject.
Year 10 Assembly on Growth Mindset Date: 22nd September 2019
The assembly on Growth Mindset was very engaging where students were able to analyse the concept of emotional intelligence, and learn more about Growth mindset and Fixed mindset. Students were also able to identify the benefits of growth mindset. Overall the assembly helped raise awareness about how students can maintain their emotional well-being and keep themselves in a good mental state.
The students shared that the assembly was very insightful. It further enhanced their knowledge on emotional intelligence, enabling oneself to overall have a better emotional well-being. The assembly also helped them to understand the importance of dealing with negative emotions properly. The assembly was able to help many students understand the difference between having a fixed mind-set and a growth mind-set.

Year 10 Assembly on Child Safeguarding and Character & Morality
Date: 29th September 2019
The assembly on Character and Morality conducted by Ms. Chriselda was an informative session. Ms. Chriselda explained the importance of moral values and Character education. Ms. Chrisleda also spoke tot he students about the 4 Pillars of Moral Education. The session on Child Safeguarding conducted by Mr. Neijin was very enriching as students developed an understanding about the importance of health and Safety and negative impacts of abuse in school. Overall the assembly helped to raise awareness about how students can ensure their safety in school.
Relevance of Moral Education
The moral education classes are conducted by Form Tutors of respective form class to discuss what Moral Education is about. Moral education plays an integral role in students’ personal and social development. The moral education curriculum is mainly aimed at encouraging students to be forward-looking, creative and respectful to everyone by creating a strong foundation on ethics, tolerance, civic duty and cultural diversity. Moral education will help to reduce absenteeism among pupils, reinforce positive personal traits and equip youngsters with practical life skills, the Minister of Education hold a forum in Dubai. Students are made aware that respect for others is the cornerstone of empathy and the beginning of sympathy.
