Global Dignity Day
Aims & Objectives:
Summary:
On Sunday 22nd October, the students and FT’s of year 10 gathered in the auditorium for an assembly on Global Dignity Day. The FT and students of 10 B1 organized the assembly and it started with a warm welcome by Sarvesh Roy. The assembly was conducted to create an awareness about the Global Dignity Day and to share views on the importance of dignity at school and at workplace. A PowerPoint was presented by Shayan Ali Nassabi, Fardin Mohammed Alam and Muhammad Yaman (10 B1) to emphasize the importance of celebrating Global Dignity Day. In addition, students of 10 B1 presented posters on Global Dignity Day, Jibran Ali (SEND form 10 B1) presented his poster and was an enthusiastic, sportive and an effective speaker, which was highly applauded and encouraged by the audience. Student presentation ended up with a video on the topic and feedback from the audience.
To sum up the assembly on Global Dignity Day, a quiz on Kahoot was conducted by Ahmed Mansoor and Muhammad Hamza (10 B1) to achieve the outcome of the assembly. All the students actively participated in the quiz and the winners of the quiz were requested to share their views on Global Dignity Day and their role as a global citizen. The audience cooperation and participation throughout the assembly was commendable.
The assembly winded up with some important announcements by Seema Vickyraj (HOY 10 Girls) and with the National Anthem.

Dealing with anxiety, stress and depressive symptoms
Aims & Objectives:
To inform the students about the most effective ways to deal with negative emotions.
Summary: Students of year 10 had their second assembly on Sunday 1st October by the school counselor, Ms. Ritushi, in the auditorium. The session began with an activity in which the students discussed, in pairs, all the things in their lives that they can/cannot control. The purpose of the activity was shared with the students soon after. The main presentation focused on recognizing negative emotions. The second half of the session focused on various effective coping strategies that the students can use to help them deal with negative emotions. Ms. Ritushi ended her session with a small activity wherein students gave each other a compliment so that their day starts on a positive note. Additionally, Ms. Anna informed the students about the circular uploaded on My Learning about the trip to Musandam. The assembly winded up with the National Anthem.

Bullying
Aims & Objectives:
To create awareness amongst the students about bullying and its side effects.
Summary: Students of year 10G1 conducted an assembly on Sunday 8th October in the auditorium. The session began with a talk about bullying and the types of bullying by Nabiha and Raeesah. The students then performed a role-play to show how bullying can affect someone and why is it wrong. Heart sang an inspiring and self-constructive song along with Maria who played the guitar to make the audience feel more empowered. Additionally, they showed a Power-Point presentation to describe the serious after-effects of bullying. This was followed by a constructive feedback given by the audience. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

DREAMS & ASPIRATIONS

Summary: On 15th October 2017, students of Year 10 gathered in the auditorium to witness an assembly to be inspired, motivated and influenced by the ideas and experiences of the Sixth formers. The speakers from Sixth form were Varun Menon, Layal Wehbe and Satyajit Kulkarni who shared the importance of goal setting as one of the basic and essential skills required at this stage. The speakers also shared the importance of extracurricular activities and the strategies to build a balance between academics and other activities to enhance extra skills. The speakers brought a spark into the young minds by sharing their own experiences and success stories of their IGCSE and AS level examinations and looking forward for a successful career and the feeling of accomplishment. Further Ms. Ashmi , the career counsellor summed up the assembly by emphasizing the importance of choosing right career keeping in mind ones strengths and weakness. Finally, Ms. Seema concluded the assembly by giving away the vote of thanks and with few important announcements for the week and ended with the National Anthem.
